Seventeen Centuries of Christianity

Abstract

The year 2026 is important for Georgia in many ways. Along with the successful development of the country, several special dates are celebrated. Among them, the 1700th anniversary of the declaration of Christianity as the state religion (the conversion of Kartli) stands out. Georgia is an ancient Christian country. Georgians have known and internalized the law of Christ from the very beginning - from the first centuries - the faith in Christ and his teachings. Based on this, they have defended the faith of Christ throughout their existence and in this way have repeatedly saved Georgian identity. On the contrary, it should be noted that the struggle for Georgianness and successes in this struggle were of great importance for Christianity. Throughout the Middle Ages, “Georgian” and “Christian” were identical commandments.
